Privacy policy
Last updated 20 October 2026.
This policy explains what personal information Wilkes Technologies collects through this website, why, and what your rights are. We keep it short and plain on purpose. If anything is unclear, email hello@wilkestechnologies.co.uk.
Who we are
Wilkes Technologies is a trading name of Oliver Wilkes, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), Oliver Wilkes is the data controller for the information described here.
What we collect and why
| Information | Why we use it | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Your name, company, email address, the service you’re interested in and the message you send through our contact form | To reply to your enquiry and, if you go ahead, to discuss and deliver your project | Legitimate interests (responding to enquiries you send us) and, where relevant, steps taken before entering a contract |
| Emails you send us directly | To reply and keep a record of our correspondence | Legitimate interests |
| Anonymous website usage statistics (pages viewed, referring site, approximate country, device type) | To understand which pages are useful and improve the website | Legitimate interests. This data does not identify you |
| Technical data needed to deliver the site securely (such as IP address in server logs and spam-protection checks) | To keep the website running, secure and free of spam | Legitimate interests |
We don’t sell your information, use it for advertising, or add you to a marketing list without asking.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted service providers to run this website. They process data on our behalf and only as we instruct:
- Cloudflare: website hosting, security, privacy-friendly cookieless analytics and Turnstile spam protection on the contact form.
- Resend: delivering contact form messages to our inbox.
- Our email provider: storing correspondence.
Some of these providers are based in, or use servers in, the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK–US data bridge.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries, chat conversations and correspondence for up to two years after our last contact, unless you become a client, in which case we keep project records for as long as needed for the work and for legal, tax and accounting purposes (typically six years). Anonymous analytics data is kept in aggregate form only.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct or delete it;
- object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it;
- ask for it to be transferred to another organisation.
To make a request, email hello@wilkestechnologies.co.uk. We’ll respond within one month. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
